About this episode
A weekend celebrating the largest concentration of galleries and creative spaces in Tāmaki Makaurau, the inaugural Karangahape Art Weekend programme presents exhibitions, live performance, sound art, moving image, artist talks, guided tours, workshops, music and family-friendly activities for visitors to engage with across three days. Whether you’re a long-time collector, occasional gallery visitor, you work in the arts, or it’s your first time going to a gallery, the weekend welcomes everyone, regardless of their relationship to art, to experience Karangahape in a different way, meet artists, listen to new ideas, and engage in this act of exchange. Sof caught up with two of the organisers of the weekend, Melanie Roger of Melanie Roger Gallery, and Felixe Laing, Kaiwhakapā Communications Coordinator of Artspace Aotearoa, about the programme and the overall aims of the weekend. The Karangahape Art Weekend runs from 18-20 September. For more info, check out the full programme here .
