Jesus Ascends As King - Craig Mussulman

This sermon examines the final eleven verses of Acts chapter 1, focusing on Jesus' instructions, commission, and ascension as the pivotal transition from His earthly ministry to His heavenly reign. The exposition highlights how Jesus taught the disciples about the Kingdom of God, correcting their narrow, nationalistic expectations by revealing the global scope of the Abrahamic covenant. By linking Jesus' command to be witnesses to Old Testament prophecies in Isaiah, the message affirms Christ's deity and the universal mission of the church. The ascension is presented not merely as a departure, but as the necessary enthronement of Christ that releases the Holy Spirit, empowering believers for effective witness. The sermon concludes with a pastoral exhortation for the church to pursue Holy Spirit power over mere human effort, urging believers to shine as witnesses in their spheres of influence.
