How Do We Handle Scary Headlines? Hearing God's Voice Q&A | Daily Devotional and Bible Study How do we handle scary headlines as Christians without living in fear? Today’s answer starts in 2 Timothy 1:7. It’s Friday, so we’re catching up on our daily Bible study and answering questions that came in. The first one came from a lot of you: what do we do with the fear that comes from the news and our social media feeds? Then we take a question from our Luke study about why Zechariah lost his voice when Abraham, Gideon, and Mary asked questions and didn’t. Join me on an immersive Bible Study Experience. Why Did Jesus Choose Judas? Hearing God's Voice in Luke 6:12-19 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study

Why Did Jesus Choose Judas? Hearing God's Voice in Luke 6:12-19 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study Why did Jesus choose Judas when He knew what Judas would do? Luke 6:12-19 says He chose all twelve after a night of prayer. Today in our daily Bible study we're in Luke 6, where Jesus prays all night before He names the twelve. That night of prayer changes how we read the whole list, including the name at the end. We'll look at why twelve, what apostle actually means, how a tax collector and a zealot ended up on the same team, and what it means that Judas could stand close enough to handle Jesus' money and still not be changed. Do You Expect God to Heal? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 6:6-11 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study

Do You Expect God to Heal? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 6:6-11 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study The Pharisees came to the synagogue that day specifically to watch whether Jesus would heal. Think about what that means. His enemies had more expectation than most of us walk in with. Today in our daily Bible study we finish the Sabbath section of Luke 6. We start with the bread of the Presence and what David's story has to do with any of this, then move to the man with the withered right hand. Jesus puts him in the middle of the room, asks a question that reframes the entire debate, and heals him without ever touching him. By the end, men who had been filled with awe a few chapters earlier are filled with rage, and the reason why is worth sitting with. Join me on an immersive Bible Study Experience. Who Made That Rule? Hearing God's Voice in Luke 6:1-5 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study Hungry men picked a handful of grain while they walked, and the religious leaders saw three violations of a capital law before breakfast. Today in our daily Bible study we start Luke 6 with the Sabbath. Before we get to the grain field, I want you to understand why these men were so rigid, because their grandparents had died for this day. Then we'll look at what Jesus actually broke, which was never the command in Scripture. It was the list that had been built on top of it. Am I Doing Enough for God? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 5:33-39 | Daily Devotional and Bible Study

Am I Doing Enough for God? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 5:33-39 Most of us are carrying a mental list of what a serious Christian does. Read at 5am. Journal every insight. Pray an hour without your mind wandering. And when we don’t measure up to it, we assume we’re not as close to God as other people are. I had planned to move into Luke 6 today, but the Lord kept bringing me back to the end of chapter 5. In our daily Bible study we’re still at Levi’s banquet, where someone brings Jesus that exact complaint about his followers. His answer surprised me. He doesn’t defend their devotion and he doesn’t apologize for them. He talks about a wedding, a torn garment, and wine bursting out of an old skin. Join me on an immersive Bible Study Experience. What If Your Past Is Too Far Gone to Fix? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 5:27-39

What If Your Past Is Too Far Gone to Fix? Hearing God’s Voice in Luke 5:27-39 By the rules of his own religion, Levi's sin was unforgivable. Repentance required restitution, and he could never find the people he had overcharged. Today in our daily Bible study we finish Luke 5 at a dinner party. Jesus calls a tax collector, and the first thing Levi does is throw a banquet and fill the room with the only people who would still eat with him. We'll look at why that meal was scandalous, what the Pharisees were really grumbling about, and why Jesus reversed the order everyone assumed: seated first, changed second.
