About this episode

Dunedin's Pukekura/Taiaroa Head National Park is home to the Southern Hemisphere's only mainland colony of Northern Royal Albatross - or toroa. Right now, last season's chicks are preparing to leave their nests and a new lot of breeding adult birds will soon make landfall. But with the H5N1 Bird flu virus now wreaking havoc in Australia, there are concerns for this coming breeding season. Claire Concannon, host of RNZ's science podcast - Our Changing World - visited the Otago Peninsula, to find out how they're preparing.
