Flex Scheduling with the NFL's Onnie Bose

Peter starts the podcast by explaining how important hiring the right Offensive Coordinator can be for a young QB. In the case of the Bears, he paints the picture of Kliff Kingsbury, a college coach of Caleb Williams' at USC, being passed over for the job after interviewing for the position. The Raiders and Bears both opted to hire other OC's than Kingsbury; both of whom have been fired before Thanksgiving. Peter, then, addresses the many (well, some) people online who've been crushing him for his bold and optimistic preseason Jets predictions. The guest this week is the NFL's Vice President of Broadcasting, Onnie Bose. In addition to working on the team that puts together the NFL schedule, Onnie is one of a small group of league employees who handles the delicate dance of flex scheduling. In this conversation, Onnie schools us on the rules of flex scheduling, the upcoming holiday games, as well as the conversations that happen with the network executives before the playoffs. Onnie ends it with some good life and career advice for those looking to be employed by the NFL. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
