2000 Plus - "When the Worlds Met (AFRS)" (1950)
About this episode
2000 Plus presents “When the Worlds Met” (AFRS), originally broadcast on Mutual on May 3, 1950. This surviving early entry in the original-story science-fiction anthology was written by Judith and David Bublick and directed by Sherman H. Dryer. Set in the year 2020, the drama begins when lunar personnel trace an uncanny signal toward Mars. At the Federated World Government’s Washington, D.C., spaceport, Johnny Dixon and Earth’s officials prepare for a possible first contact as a Martian craft approaches. Ken Williams stars as Johnny Dixon, with Luis van Rooten as the voice of Mars. Old Time Sci-Fi Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
