03 The Possession of Wisdom

The Purpose of the book of Proverbs is to provide wisdom, knowledge, instruction, understanding, discernment and discretion. Last week, we considered the primary precept of the book: the fear of YHWH is the beginning of knowledge. The principle then that is derived from that precept is that those who are wise will seek the wisdom and understanding, but fools will despise wisdom and understanding. As we continue in our study of the book, we instantly see Solomon place a challenge to his son regarding choices. This book of Proverbs is all about choices! Our choices will be affected by our desires - in the end, what is it that we want to possess? The proposition of this book is that Wisdom is the best thing that we can possess.
